From bead to earring: how I make glass bead jewellery

Every piece I make is full of love, patience and a good dose of creativity. Take a look at my work and read how a pair of glass bead earrings comes to life.
Hi, I'm Mathilde. Everything you see at Matelier is made by me, by hand: unique, with care and especially for you. A pair of earrings starts with an idea and is only finished after hours of designing, making and assembling.

Where a glass bead earring begins
I make my beaded jewellery from tiny glass beads, including Miyuki beads from Japan. I thread them bead by bead with strong nylon thread until the pattern I had in mind appears. All ear hooks, hoops and studs are stainless steel in gold or silver colour: nickel-free and suitable for sensitive ears.
Why every piece is slightly different
Because everything is made by hand, every piece is slightly different. That is exactly what I love about it: your pair is truly yours. The time that goes into each pair ensures its high quality.
Making jewellery yourself?
Would you like to try working with beads yourself? Start with a small pattern and take your time, because patience is your most important tool. Find good light, use strong thread and sort your beads by colour to keep things organised.
Would you rather wear something beautiful right away? The bead collection has all the earrings, rings and necklaces. Looking for a specific colour or combination? Send me a message and we'll see together what is possible.
